Karen Ostby

Partner

Karen handles farm and ranch work, real estate and small-business law for owners across the valley.

Karen grew up on a cow-calf place south of town and came home to open this office after practicing in Billings. Most of her clients own land or a business, and a good number own both.

She drafts and reviews purchase agreements, deeds, easements, grazing and farm leases, and operating agreements, and she handles closings from the title work to the signing table.

How Karen works

  • 01

    Walks the ground

If a boundary, an easement or a ditch is the question, Karen would rather see it than read about it. She'll drive out.

  • 02

    Writes it down plainly

Every agreement she drafts comes with a one-page summary in plain English, so you know what you signed.

  • 03

    Thinks a generation ahead

A land deal or a new LLC is a good time to ask who runs it next. She'll raise it, and leave the answer to you.
